Katie Edwards

Born in Kendal, 1985, Katie has grown up in the Lake District. Art has been a big part of her life and education, right through to graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University, in Graphic Arts and Design with a First Class Honours.

Along side exhibiting art work Katie also produces commercial illustrations for editorial and publishing purposes, represented by Debut Art illustration agency.

Using traditional photographic techniques to produce her screen prints, which are occasionally combined with collage or drawn imagery.

Katie’s work is largely influenced by the animal world and often has a humorous outcome.

The illustrations focus on photographic representation, what images symbolise and

their use metaphorically. Images are often isolated and placed in unusual compositions to represent new ideas.

Highly commended in the Refresh! 2007 illustration awards.
